Pro Silva Ireland Webinar | 08 September 2020
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS NOW PAST
Presenters: Edward Wilson, Liam Byrne and Anna Browne
Summary
There is great interest in continuous cover forestry (CCF) at the present time. A new grant scheme and recent policy developments in Ireland are stimulating demand for CCF. However, as with all new approaches, there is a learning curve and need for practitioners to share their experiences. In this webinar organised and hosted by Pro Silva Ireland, Liam Byrne and Ted Wilson present an update on the TranSSFor research project, and discuss practical issues related to implementing stand transformation.

Format
The session has three parts. In part 1, Ted will present an overview of the TranSSFor project, which is the most important long-term study on the transformation of Sitka spruce plantations to CCF. In part 2, Liam and Ted will discuss common issues that arise when transforming Irish spruce forests. Part 3 will be a Q and A session; participants will have an opportunity to be actively involved, and to share their own insights. The meeting will last approximately 50 minutes.

Registration
Places are limited, and available on a first come, first served basis. Members and non-members of Pro Silva Ireland are welcome. Booking is via Eventbrite; there is no charge. The session will be presented via Zoom. Participants should log in 10 minutes before the start of the session. The webinar will be recorded and available later on the Pro Silva Ireland website.
